Zigbone Farm Retreat, Sabillasville. French Inspired Wedding

J&R are a precious queer couple who had a jam-packed wedding weekend at Zigbone Farm Retreat in June 2025. Some time passed between their initial email in Spring 2024 and when we officially started working together in Fall 2024. Life gets crazy, and that's okay! We are so thankful they reached out to us as life settled and they wanted to jump back into wedding planning. J&R hired SBD to coordinate the entire weekend, help them secure vendors, stay on track, and handle any bumps along the way.

The design inspiration: The couple wanted to keep things rooted in nature while adding a touch of French Riviera and texture. J&R aimed to be as sustainable as possible. They worked with artisans to create the linens, and the flowers were sourced from local flower farms.

The ceremony options at Zigbone revolve around the stunning gardens and landscape. J&R decided to hold their wedding in the shade beneath the large tree in the house's front yard. They aimed for a spiritual, connective ceremony that united a small group of their closest family and friends. The personal touches were limitless, creating a warm and loving circle.

What Did We Help With?

Their custom seating chart was a group effort between an artisan who and painted each Cicada, SBD who created the magnetized stand, and EC Letters in Columbia who hand-calligraphed each guest name. Hours of dreaming, design, testing, and painting went into this awesome display.

J&R envisioned a unique concept for their table settings, which required sourcing from various locations, but it was absolutely worthwhile. The final element was the menu. Crafting round menus is challenging, so SBD conducted research and explored the shelves at GCC Printing to bring J&R's beautiful menu design to life. Occasionally, a bit of creative problem-solving is needed to locate a vendor or source an item, and SBD enjoys tapping into their inner detective to accomplish this.

More personal touches included pronoun pins and something truly one-of-a-kind - The bathrooms at their wedding were covered in pride flags and information about many LGBTQIA+ ceiling breakers, historical figures, and humanitarians.

Their outfits were custom created with the help of a dear friend who has a very artistic career and has even designed gowns for the MET Gala (swooning). Truly thankful that people like Michael Sylvan exist in this world!

A weekend that started with pizza and a movie (thank you Brother's Pizza and Ultimate Outdoor Entertainment), ended with a day after brunch catered by their wedding caterer, Canapés. Truly a magical weekend!
